Our eyes let us see many things, connect with people, and get through our daily routines. As we approach Vision Month in May, this is the time to discuss eye health and its importance. However, we often don't think about our vision until something goes wrong. That is why it is important to continue to discuss how important it is to care for one's vision.

Vision impacts everything we do, including reading, driving, and enjoying our daily hobbies. If we have trouble with our vision, it can lead to accidents and complicate even simple things.

Eye problems affect anyone at any age. No matter the age, these are common eye problems:

  • Refractive Errors (Nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism)
  • Cataracts
  • Glaucoma
  • Macular Degeneration

Here are some easy tips for keeping your eyes healthy:

  • Regular Eye Exams - schedule yearly appointments
  • Protect Your Eyes - wear protective eye covering
  • Healthy Diet - eat healthy fats in Omega's such as in salmon, flax seeds, and walnuts
  • Limit Screen Time - take short computer breaks
  • Stay Hydrated - drink plenty of water

Please be sure to schedule your regular eye checkups to stay on top of your vision health. If you have an HSA (Health Savings Account) and/or FSA (Flexible Spending Account) accounts that provide tax advantages, these features can help with coverage costs. They can be used for the following:

  • Certain eligible procedures
  • Eye exams
  • Prescription glasses
  • Contact lenses
